PEDAL POWER

Pedal Power is a Cardiff-based charity whose aim is to make cycling accessible to all in and around Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and environs. It is a membership organisation and gained charitable status in 2002. It has a board of eleven trustees who oversee the running of the Charity.

Pedal Power received a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to erect the purpose built community facility.

It also receives grants from Environmental Wales and Cardiff City Council. Pedal Power is aiming, in due course, to become self funding through the general cycle hire, donations and fund raising.

 Located at Pontcanna Caravan Park close to the city, cyclists can ride through the beautiful, traffic free parkland of Pontcanna and Bute Park, and can also access the Taff Trail.

MAKING CYCLING ACCESSIBLE TO ALL - this is Pedal Power’s main aim, and a wide range of specialised bikes, advice and help are available – Pedal Power also operates a general cycle hire so bringing cycling to people of all ages and abilities.
Training - We can arrange:-

• courses for beginners - using the quiet areas around Pontcanna Fields, the course offers the skills and confidence to enjoy cycling and its many benefits. Bikes are provided from our hire stock.
• Cycle safety awareness courses for those who support disabled cyclists. Some carers have not cycled for some time and may need to improve their skills. Pedal Power offers basic courses to improve skills and confidence, as well as covering any issues raised by the specialized bikes.
